Vache Brookside Winery

With three structures dating to 1886 and a shabby cottage dating to 1870s, Brookside Vache Winery is a privately held property with a dense history. In the 1880s, the Vache brothers, who had been in the employ of Dr. Ben Barton, started their winery on the property beside the San Timoteo Creek and the Southern Pacific Railroad. They planted vineyards and made fine wine that was distributed to all of the hotels in Redlands and points far to the east. The large and beautiful structures along the road have long-since been demolished, but the brick barn still stands.
