Owned by City of Redlands and leased by Redlands Conservancy, Gateway Ranch is the region’s Outdoor Experience Headquarters, a site for native plant restoration work, outdoor education, and a trail head for multi-use trails.
The ranch in Live Oak Canyon was developed by Otis Hudson in the 1950s, when he built a small ranch house and several buildings as he grew hay crops on his more than 200 acres. Redlands acquired the 12-acre ranch property in 2016 while the remaining property fell under the ownership of the West Riverside County Regional Conservation Authority which holds more than 160 acres in permanent conservation.
The ranch, three miles east of the intersection of Live Oak Canyon Road and San Timoteo Canyon Road, welcomes hiker, cyclists and equestrians to enjoy the many miles of trails and to hike the Gateway Garden Honor Trail.
It is free to use and open to the public, 7am to 5pm from November 1 through March 15, and 7am to 7pm from March 16 to October 1.
